BE TRUSTING (Receive God’s Word As It Is)

TO THE BIBLE Matthew 18:4-5 AMPC “Whoever will humble himself therefore and become like this little child [trusting, lowly, loving, forgiving] is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives and accepts and welcomes one little child like this for My sake and in My name receives and accepts and welcomes Me.”

LET’S TALK. If you were to hold out a child from a balcony and ask someone he trusts (say, his dad) to stay on the ground-floor and catch him, the child wouldn’t cry for help, because he trusts the man on the ground. He may not know for certain that the fellow has the ability to catch him, but he believes he wouldn’t let him fall. He trusts the man’s character.

Just like that little child, you’re expected to trust the character of God, which He has made plain in His Word. When you trust, it doesn’t make you gullible. Rather, it means that you have faith in God, and you accept that He’s everything He says He is. This way, you permit Him to accomplish whatever He seeks to accomplish in you and through you.

The Bible says, “Abraham had faith and obeyed God. He was told to go to the land that God had said would be his, and he left for a country he had never seen” (Hebrews 11:8 CEV). He trusted and followed the Lord, even though it wasn’t clear as yet where he was going. Such childlike faith is what God expects you to have towards Him.

GO DEEPER. Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Colossians 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

PRAY. Dear Father, I thank you for teaching me to be effective and productive in the Kingdom life. I live every day of my life trusting you wholeheartedly. I’m committed to receiving your Word and doing it without hesitation or doubt, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
