FRAME YOUR THINKING. (Maintain The Right Thoughts In You)
TO THE BIBLE. Philippians 4:8 TLB “And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about.”
LET’S TALK. It matters a great deal the kind of thoughts that dominate your mind. Your thoughts make you; they determine the quality of your life. Philippians 4:8-9 lists specific things you should fix your mind on—thoughts that are true, good, right, pure, praiseworthy, and lovely.
Thoughts are very powerful. They’re pictures of the mind that have constructive or destructive possibilities, and they have power with emotions. In other words, they affect your emotions. Until your thinking changes, your life remains the same, and you wouldn’t be able to change your state or estate. Be like King David, who consciously filled his heart with thoughts about God. He once said to the Lord, “I think about you before I go to sleep, and my thoughts turn to you during the night” (Psalm 63:6 CEV). He trained himself to meditate on the riches, love and grace of the Lord. See why his greatness wasn’t accidental? He prepared for it!
God communicates with you through your thoughts; the devil can also communicate with you through the same channel. Your mind is the doorway to your spirit. If it isn’t filled with the right kind of information, you won’t be able to receive guidance from the Holy Spirit as you should. Therefore, you must constantly renew your mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:2). And as you allow the Word to influence your mind, it will get a hold of your thoughts and every word you speak.
GO DEEPER. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
SPEAK. I fill my mind with God’s Word, and my thoughts are patterned in line with the wisdom of God. I refuse to think the wrong thoughts. I’m guided by the true light of God’s Word. Daily my mind is being renewed by the Word of God, as I apply my heart to think on God’s truths.
