STAND YOUR GROUND! (Resist Satan Firmly And Watch Him Flee)
TO THE BIBLE James 4:7 AMPC “So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you.”
LET’S TALK Cecil was beginning to doubt that he was truly born again. Since he became a Christian a month ago, he’d had several struggles with temptations to lie, cheat, and curse. “How am I ever going to overcome these temptations?” he groaned.
There are young Christians, like Cecil, who struggle daily with temptations. They’re constantly trying to overcome one sinful habit or another. But it seems no matter how hard they try, they’re unable to resist. If you’ve found yourself in this dilemma, the first thing I’ll tell you is not to doubt your salvation. Understand that satan isn’t so powerful that you can’t resist him; actually he’s got no power at all!
The reason you haven’t resisted him yet is because you haven’t learnt enough of God’s Word to do so. When you feed on God’s Word consistently, you won’t have to struggle with temptations; no matter how they come, you’ll be ready to overcome them. That Word in you, along with the supernatural help of the Holy Spirit, will help stand up to them and win.
Don’t struggle; just put the Word inside you. Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” This means that God’s Word will literally transform you from someone who’s subject to his senses, to someone who walks by the spirit. What a blessing!
GO DEEPER Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. :6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. :4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Ephesians 1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, :16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; :17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: :18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, :19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, :20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, :21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: :22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, :23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
PRAY Dear heavenly Father, I’m edified by your Word and strengthened by your precious Holy Spirit who dwells in me. I know I’m seated in Christ, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that exists. Therefore, whenever I resist the devil in the Name of Jesus, he’s got no choice but to flee. Thank you Father in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
