WALK ON LIFE’S “WATERS”
(You Can Live In Mastery Like Jesus Did) ;
Pastor Chris Oyahilome;
TO THE BIBLE
John 6:19-21 “So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid. But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.”
LET’S TALK Moses’ successor, Joshua, had witnessed the splitting of the Red Sea during the Exodus. Now, he was faced with a similar challenge: the children of Israel needed to get over to Jericho, but right in their path was the River Jordan. Then God instructed Joshua to tell the priests carrying the ark of the Lord to step into the Jordan ahead of the others. As soon as they did, the waters separated for the children of Israel to go through on dry ground (Joshua 3:17), just as it happened at the Red Sea in the days of Moses.
Many years later, the Prophet Elijah and his servant Elisha came to the same river. This time, Elijah rolled up his cloak and struck the water with it, and the river split open for them to go through. Afterwards, Elisha did the same thing to return home (2 Kings 2:14 MSG). Amazing feats indeed!
Fast-forward hundreds of years later to the Lord Jesus: On a certain night, He went up the mountain to pray alone. When He was done, He wanted to rejoin His disciples, but they were already far out at sea. Unlike Moses, Joshua, Elijah, and Elisha, He didn’t need to divide the sea and walk on dry ground; He simply walked right on top of the water.
Speak
How awesome He is! Guess what? You’re just like Him! You’ve got His life and nature in you; for as He is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17). No need to command the Jordan in your way to split wide open; just walk on the water like Jesus did! Talk your way through! That’s the way out of trouble and adversity!
