SENT IN HIS NAME
(The Holy Spirit Responds To The Name “Jesus”)
👤 Pastor Chris
📖 TO THE BIBLE
John 14:26 GNB “The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you.”
◀️ LET’S TALK
Do you know the Holy Spirit doesn’t have a name? His name isn’t “Holy Ghost” or “Holy Spirit.” That’s just a description of His character. “Holy” is characteristic of His personality; that’s the adjective that qualifies and describes His personality, and then “Spirit” is what He is! So, when we call Him ‘Holy Spirit’, what we’re saying in essence is that He’s a Spirit that is Holy! He answers to a name; and the name He answers to is the Name of Jesus!
It’s right there in Matthew 28:19 where Jesus said; “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit….” Notice He didn’t say “baptizing them in the names of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.’ Rather He said “in the name,” which means the Father, Son and Holy Ghost all answer to one Name — the Name of Jesus!
He wouldn’t have had any right to function in the earth the way He does, had He not come in the Name of someone who already had a right to the earth—Jesus. Today, the Holy Spirit continues the ministry of the Lord Jesus here on earth. He’s here to do whatever Jesus would have done. He’s not less powerful than Jesus. In fact, He is the One who empowered Jesus. The Bible says in Acts 10:38, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” He was that Power!
Now, Jesus is gone to heaven, but the Holy Spirit is here with us, to help us claim everything that belongs to Jesus, and live triumphantly to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 2:12 says, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” So you see, the Holy Spirit doesn’t have a name separate from Jesus; He answers to the Name of Jesus. When you call the Name of Jesus, the Holy Spirit goes into action because He answers to that Name!

Dear Father, I thank you for the privilege to use and live in the Name of Jesus. I’m always assured of answers, knowing that the Holy Spirit immediately goes to work on my behalf, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
